ABOUT

“ My name is Kara Barker,

I’m a christian in faith, wife, and proud mom of twin girls, artist, and holistic enthusiast. Since becoming a mom, I’ve expanded into various roles like homeschool teacher, doctor, nutritionist, cook, counselor, prayer warrior and the list goes on. This season of life has shifted not only my priorities but also my passions. I truly look forward to every opportunity of making messy crafts, creating imaginative play scenarios, and exploring nature with my kiddos. Recognizing this as my calling is when Painted Pinecone Society was born!

My vision for Painted Pinecone Society is to unite a community or ‘society’ of local families that are interested in prioritizing natural and creative enrichment over worldly distractions. Additionally, we hope to create an environment for new friendships to blossom, offer support for moms of all stages, and exemplify love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.

At Painted Pinecone Society, we embrace an eclectic method, integrating the independence fostered by Montessori, the nature-centered approach of Charlotte Mason, the emphasis on art and imagination from Waldorf education, and the open-ended play style inspired by Reggio Emilia. Together, these different styles create a holistic experience that will inspire creativity and individuality. Ultimately, the wholesome spirit of our events whether centered on crafts, painting, or play will leave both parents and children feeling fulfilled and hopefully a little bit messy! ”
